Panic when visitors arrive

I recall several instances when a "stranger" walked into the hall in the middle of the meeting. It never failed... everyone in the hall would turn around and look at the person with shock and bewilderment. A sense of unease would pass across the entire audience.

All available elders would then run to meet the person and "interrogate" him to make sure he wasn't there to crash the meeting.

Ahhh yes... can't you feel the love?

    Anyone else have similar experiences?

How strange! So they must have a we'll come to you, don't come to us approach to evangelizing Huh? You know what I always wondered? Why do JW's have to go to a certain congregation, depending on where they live? What happens if you go to a different hall one Sunday?

Another example of the witness paranoia of anything or anyone that they don't know. Sad, really.

I remember going to a hall when I was about 18. There was 4 of us and we were down for a wedding. We stayed over and of course we were good boys and went to the meeting. We had saved our seats with our magazines and I remember watching a "Brother" slowly walk over and pick up my magazine. Read the name on the cover and flipped to the study article. I guess he wanted to know who we were and if we were good Dubs and studied for the meeting. ..Lot's of love there eh?

My family moved every six months for about 10 years...we became used to that "shocked and bewildment" look directed at us.

The subject line of this thread brought back nervous moments when I was a smoker: *hurriedly removing evidence of spliff making from around the lounge*

and a couple of weeks ago: *quickly removing that tastefull windowsTM wallpaper of a topless woman*

I recall maybe a few instances where some "strangers" would come in wearing jeans and t-shirts. Really. They'd sit there and everyone would glance back.

My aunt recalls a time during the memorial. A guy came in and took his seat. And while they were passing the wine, he sniffed it and said "Man, I know this wine! This stuff here is some good wine!" And he sipped it. LOL

    Hi Nickey,

That reminds me of a Memorial that I attended many years ago. Somebody brought their Bible Study, an older lady. When they passed the chalice this lady drank all the wine. So they had to send the chalice back for a refill. I don't recall if the lady ate the matzo. But it was kind of funny watching the attendants rush back to pour more wine.

    Sincerely,

    Athanasius
