Well Christmas has never been a big deal in the Jones household, even well after, I mean decades after leaving the JUU's. This one was pretty quiet with youngest son and grandson here to visit. Out of the blue on Christmas eve the phone rings and my wife says, "if's for you"! Well someone starts asking questions about my past, was I a witness, did I leave it as a youngin, etc. I said "who wants to know?" Turns out it was a nephew that was Df'd ten years ago and has been shunned by my family every since. He had heard I was back in the US and did a search on the computer and came up with five people with my name. The first call he made was a hit!
Anyway, he's been in and out of prison and is pretty screwed up all around but we made an agreement to get together next spring as he is only a couple hours drive away. Seems he has a lot of ill will toward the family and wants someone to support him in his "recovery". He tells me that most of my neices and nephews have either left or been df'd and are all living fairly close. I guess the apple rots, fairly close to the tree trunk.
