Not that we have not done it before, but the event would come about out a mutual understanding. Never a word or any more than just "we are going out to dinner". The news this time is that my wife, out of her own initiative, suggested this morning that we should go out and celebrate our daughters b-day. She is turning 7 today. On top of that, she said so in from of my mother in law, which denied attending the celebration under the excuse that she did not feel like eating restaurant food. May be my wife is more awake than I thought... time will tell.

The idea of not celebrating these milestones in our children's lives is completely ludicrous. I think the rules were made entirely out of the society's jealousy for our time and attention.

Congrats and happy birthday to your seven year old!

Yep! Celebrating a wedding anniversary is ok, but a bday is not?

JWs Celebrate an actual Birthday with a "Shower"..

They don`t Celebrate the Anniversary of a Birthday..

Most JWs Don`t Know What They Believe or Why..

Celebrating the day of one's birth is a wonderful tradition that harms no one. The Watchtower is ridiculous for prohibiting it. I hope you have a wonderful time.

    Wow... wonderful.

I read some of your older threads. It really seems that your wife is awaking. Just take it slowly in her pace. Your wife seems to be a lovely person.

And congratulations. Make it a joyful event for your daughter.

Good. And I am sure the ice cream money is not going to the Worldwide Damnation Fund.

As this religion continues getting worse to spiritually enslave and destroy people. No toys that could even remotely resemble magic--including Pokemon (I am sure many a Pokemon cartridge saw the inside of the rubbish can following the Sparlock incident). No playing or sleeping at the boasting sessions--even if children are up way past bedtime on a school night. No going to real destinations for vacation. And now, the last vestige of fun, no more ice cream cones. Keep that up, and they won't get anything at all.

Good for you. Beyond just being a celebration I think it's nice to let a kid know that their birth is regarded as a very special and important event in the lives of their parents and loved ones.

LOL. Not only we had ice cream, it was an ice cream cake!. It actually went better than I thought. My wife even chastised my older daughter for not having wished her sister her happy bday. Totally unexpected.

On top of that, we are going to pokemon fest this weekend at a local convention center
