I found another strange quote (the other one is located in Satan's Gospel) in The Finished Mystery:

At every green leaf on the way each took a bite, and then went on for the next one to take his bite, until in an incredibly short time not a green thing could be seen. When they reached the prepared heaps of heath, and these were set on fire, the locusts marched on without pausing, until in a brief time they put the bonfires completely out. As the sea was not far off everybody hoped that they would take to surf bathing. And so they did. Just as certain injurious political crowds among us can always be always depended upon to march up to the polls and vote the straight ticket, when the vanguard reached the waves, like all good true locusts, in they hopped, followed by all the rest, till the billows seemed to roll only grasshoppers; nor did the scene end until the last of the rear guard had skipped over the heaps of his dead comrades to make his last jump into the blue waters of the Mediterranean." And who are the locusts now according to JW doctrine? JWS! What was wrong about Methodists is right when applied to themselves. This truly shows that the JWs simply take a piece of text from the bible and apply any meaning to it as they see fit. And change it just as easely when it doesnt suit them anymore.

I love that you brought this out! For a reason different then you would think though.

My Mothers Anglo father was born in 1890 and raised a Methodist.

Their form of worship was considered very METHODICAL. As was quoted, These locusts always hopped straight ahead, deviating neither to the right nor left,

Methodists were so different from others that my mothers Methodist Father was always arguing with his Lutheran wife!

His wife always wanted to partake of the Sacrament once a week and he insisted once a year!

He did not like Easter but preferred only The Memorial observance.

Since he was born in 1890 he must have gone through quite the culture shock!

My mother was not allowed to cut her hair, wear deodorant, shave her legs, play cards, watch movies as they were from the devil, etc. etc.

He did not even like her Perry Como records!!!

When I became a JW my mother became very resentful and would tell me I was just like her father!

Since the JWs have become those same said Locusts this would explain a lot.

Although The So Called New Light Says being one of these Locusts is a good thing Id say The Old Light was right on the money!

I am glad you liked it as much as I did.

Funny thing though, I didn't really know what being a methodist means but from you observations (not allowed to cut her hair, wear deodorant , shave her legs, play cards, watch movies) it doesn`t sound fun. I read the page from this book and laughed out loud. the symbol they now claim reflecting their zeal and straightmindedness was used in former times to denounce others. very pesky. By the way almost any symbol in revelation is in the Finished Mystery something bad, the locusts are methodists, the four riders of the apocalyps are each the antichrist: the pope, etc etc. The explanations differ from the current ones as night and day. It shows that revelation can be explained according to current events just as much as say Nostradamus.

I thought I should add that Methodists are not as ridged as they once were.

When I attended for a time as a child they did everything pagan including playing cards and they partook of The Sacrament every Sunday!!

So you can see as the end never comes and the faithful cannot bear to wait any longer even the most rigid of religions can relax.

The first year of publication is 1917. If you can get a copy of this book do so! It is the most outrages book ever published by the WTS. you could also check the web, it is public domain. I got mine from the web and checked later with someone who had a hard copy of this gem.

This would all depend on the climate of the world. Since there is War in the air its a 50/50 swing. I am hoping for relaxation of policy because if The U.S. were to initiate the draft many JW men and boys would go to jail for NOTHING. There is no reason why they cannot help take care of the wounded or take their turn on Community Watch to warn their neighbors of an attack on U.S. soil. This would be the loving and most neighborly thing to do.

Still War can cause people to become more rigid in their interpretations because of the Illusion of the end being near.

Once the War climate is over if Gods Kingdom has truly not come then of course they will relax. They will have too.

How can one keep up endless unnecessary fraternal style mandates tirelessly throughout the decades generation after generation? The No Higher Education and The Waiting Till The New System To Have Children mandates inflicted on many has caused damage almost beyond repair if not for the New Light presented to The Sheep.

What I have told people about so-called New Light is if it is right now it was right back then! I point out how members could have been reproved, passively shunned by other bros and sisters or even disfellowshipped.

Just because a Religion becomes more relaxed does not make it The Truth about Gods Purposes and His Son Our Savior.

What the WT relaxing on policies will do is reunite families and bring in many more voluntarily donating members.

Just my thoughts so thanks for listening.

Your reply made a lot of sense. I too think that relaxing the most rigid doctrines does not make it right al together. it would make it more mainstream and that is always good.

What the WT relaxing on policies will do is reunite families and bring in many more voluntarily donating members.

They will have to change indeed, otherwise they will cease to exist.
