  Police officer killed in anti-terror raid

  LONDON (Reuters) - One police officer has been stabbed to death and four others have been injured in an anti-terror raid in Manchester, police say.

  Manchester police said in a statement they had swooped on an address to detain a man under a terrorism law, and had also detained two further men in their 20s.

  A spokeswoman said one officer had died and one was seriously hurt during the raid. Three others had lighter injuries. All the injured officers had been taken to hospital.

  The area was closed off to traffic.

  Just saw this on News at Ten........Scary stuff, when you think where this could all possibly end up. Seems to me that war is enivitable with Iraq very soon.....then what, who's gonna be next? Hmmm...

  Strange on the news ... said they were in the house questioning people for some time before it happened ?!

  Sad news and terrible that someone doing their job, keeping us safe get's killed in the line of duty.

  Edited to add: seems that the discovery of the toxin in London was related to this arrest in Manchester ... not far from us (gulp)
