Will You Be the Next King (or Queen)?

After watching 'LOTR: The Two Towers' for the second time, I made a wonderful correlation.

Remember King Thoden? He was the one who was under a spell from Saruman. He had scales over his eyes and he was merely a puppet (so to speak). He was under complete control of Saruman until.......

The White Wizard (Gandalf) approached him. He broke the spell. He basically awakened the king from his sleeplike state. The king was finally able to speak and think for himself. His skin became smoother and the scales on his eyes were removed.

This sort of relates to how it felt for me when I was broken from the Governing Body spell.

Someone who cared about me approached me and showed me some facts that I needed to know about the Organization. Initially, I fought internally with what was actual truth (ABOUT the Org) and fabricated truth (FROM the Org). It felt better to believe the false truth. I was comfortable being under a spell. Eventually, I began to let the seed of "actual" truth take root and grow within me.

Like King Thoden, the scales were lifted from my eyes. After enduring a little pain that ripped me away from my comfort zone in my hypnotic condition, I eventually became MORE comfortable knowing that I was no longer a puppet. I was no longer under the control of the Governing Body. I could see clearly. No, my physical skin did not become youthful again, but the yoke of guilt and unworthiness was lifted from my shoulders.

I am now free to think for myself and make decisions based on logic and conscience. I now see things for what they actually are, not for what someone else TELLS me what they are.

Yes, I am now king. Will you be next?

    Edited for grammar.

good for you funchback....i noticed many correlations between the LOTR and the WTS. Ironically, although many Jw's in your area feel it is demonic, Tolkien actually took many of his ideas from the bible.

although i've known the truth about the truth for a few years, nothing made me happier when it clicked with my wife....we've lost alot but have gained even more....

For some reason, when I type 'Theoden' (with an accent mark), it posts as 'Thoden'. That's odd.

Anyway, I didn't realize that Tolkien took many of his ideas from the bible. That's interesting.

I saw it with a JW (Vince McG.). He didn't think it was demonic. LOL.

I'm happy for you and you wifey, by the way!

Funchbank - good analogy. I can certainly relate.

Very true - especially the Simarillion.

Looking forward to seeing Two Towers again - this time at a better theater with a bigger screen!

    Cheers,

    Mak
