From Study Article January 19, 2003,

Personal Study That Equips us as Teachers WT December 1, 2002, Religion, how Should it be Financed ?

This article is a shameless plug for the following WT study materials.

    • Watchtower Library on CD-Rom
    • Require brochure
    • The Divine Name That Will Endure Forever
    • The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived
    • Insight
    • Should You Believe in the Trinity?

Unlike Consumers Report, however, no Babylonish aids are listed side-by-side in this magazine for comparison, even though it is obvious that Bethel scholars regularly refer to Christendoms reference works to compose WT materials.

A five minute google search on the internet found me a wealth of resources available for the serious researcher. And there is no charge for many of these research materials either, free for download and use off the internet.

This article starts with an out-of-context reference

: For everything there is an appointed time says the Bible at Ecclesiastes 3:1..choose when and where to study.. This scripture has nothing to do with railway schedules, regular bowel movements, or regular WT study. My New Living Translation Application Study Bible (shameless plug) says, The secret to peace is to discover, accept, and appreciate Gods perfect timing. So this scripture is about Gods dependability and regularity, not Mans.

One prominent US clergyman gave a lecture entitled Do You Know God? but not once in his speech did he mention the divine name.

Without further information, I cannot know which prominent clergyman the WT authors may be talking about. There are several sermons online with the same name. Was it Billy Graham, perhaps? Nothing else is said about this sermon except for this supposed error. How did the rest of the sermon go? Does it have a relevant message for honest-hearted sinners desiring reconciliation with the one True God? Oh, well. The Bethel writers must know what is best.

Furthermore, of what value is the part of Jesus model prayer our Father in the heavens, let your name be sancitified if Gods name is not even used?

How about sanctifying Jehovahs name by our actions (rather than by rote repetition)? Tell me this, is Jehovahs name sanctified if His name is associated with a single, self-isolated, self-righteous, high-control group? Is His name sanctified if JW is associated with pedophile protectors?

    My thoughts for the week.

Funny, I have several weighty tomes on methods of Bible Study and interpretation upon my shelves, and they don't recommend any of the above for serious study - must be a misprint! LOL

jgnat, good points. I noticed and pointed out all the WT publications that were mentioned. I am trying to find you said that quote. Why don't they just use his name? Afraid of giving free advertising?

Thank you Stephanus, for being the first to respond to my post. It gives this lonely scholar encouragement. What is your favorite weighty tome?

Blondie, my friend, thank you. Free advertising? Hahahahaha. You bet! Billy Graham is a compassionate and articulate man. I sure hope he is the clergyman they decided to bash this week. He keeps me riveted in my seat, and that is saying a lot. I would rather watch an infomercial marathon than a televangelist. Can you imagine the hemhorraging in KH's if they found out (gasp) that there are superior speakers outside those four walls?

Perhaps this unnammed preacher didn't use god's name because:

The truth is, nobody knows for sure how the name of God was originally pronounced.

-from The Divine Name that will Endure Forever, Watchtower Bible & Tract Society

Hmmm. Don't these people even read their own litterature?

Would it not be a great dishonour to Jehovah for a prominent US Clergyman to (gasp) mispronounce His divine name?
