No charity programs for witnesses

I remember witnesses in no way partaking in charitible organizations, helping out etc. Not only would they not help with other ones, but in reality there is no form of charity work at all even for fellow witnesses. I wonder why that is?

You have older ones who have spent their entire life in the WTS, only to find themselves practically on the street later. You have single moms, unable to take care of their family. There are many that are in need right there in the congregation, but the WTS makes no effort. Not one single program. With all the Building Funds, Donations to the World Wide Work, and other money making schemes, you would think the " one and only true loving religion" would have some program for the ones in the hall who truly needed help.

How truly selfish and unloving. I am all for those who can to go out and do the best to provide for their family. But there are certainly cases where the best just isn't good enough, and the WTS with all their money and collecting, will not do a single thing.

But this is supposed to be a wonderful loving arrangement. The only help anyone would get is perhaps a caring, giving person in the hall, independantly.

In reality, the WTS does nothing for no one.

Agreed. It seems that the WTS just instructs the brothers and sisters to help others in the congregation who are in need. This eliminates the WTS from doing it themselves.

The sad thing is that there are a few JWs who have acknowledged themselves as the less fortunate, and they know how to pull the strings to get others to give them money, paint their house, etc, and they know that they can keep on getting away with it. These are the truly loving & kind people that are associated with God's organization! Let us rejoice!

......and why does my pic only work on Wednesdays?

This sentiment goes back a long way. When WWI was brewing, there were clerical calls from many religions asking that people pray for a peaceful resolution to avoid war. Russell's stance was that the war was foretold and was quite necessary for the fulfillment of prophecy. Yup, it was actually going against Jehovah's will to ask for a world without a World War.

"Tough for everyone that isn't one of us. God will destroy them and they deserve it."

Yet in 1917 after Russell's death:

Although they endeavored to do what they felt was pleasing to God, their position was not always one of strict neutrality. What they did was influenced by the belief, shared in common with other professed Christians, that "the higher powers" were "ordained of God," according to the wording of the KingJamesVersion. (Rom. 13:1) Thus, in accord with a proclamation of the president of the United States, TheWatchTower urged the Bible Students to join in observing May 30, 1918, as a day of prayer and supplication in connection with the outcome of the world war.

    And regarding the Finished Mystery:

"When it had been learned that the government objected to the book, Brother Rutherford had immediately sent a telegram to the printer to stop producing it, and at the same time, a representative of the Society had been dispatched to the intelligence section of the U.S. Army to find out what their objection was. When it was learned that because of the war then in progress, pages 247-53 of the book were viewed as objectionable, the Society directed that those pages be cut out of all copies of the book before they were offered to the public." [Jehovah's Witnesses -- Proclaimers of God's Kingdom (1993), p. 652]

The flipflops of the WTS started long ago.

Thanks Blondie for pointing out that excerpt from the "Proclaimers" book that I quite frankly find remarkable for its frankness in detailing how Rutherford ordered the removal of several offending pages from The Finished Mystery. How can any reasoning JW fail to regard this as nothing less than a cowardly capitulation to Caesar?
