It's been an emotional week for us.; Many of our neighboring businesses came to say good-bye yesterday and say that they will miss us.; When we started the business, we were still JWs and being treated like crap because we didn't fit in.(At the Kingdom Hall) The business allowed us to build up confidence and self-esteem because people saw us for who we truly were and many told us we were good people, a good family.
One; business lady has admired our work we have done for the newspaper and wants us to design a brochure of her products. Hey maybe there is a whole new avenue of work opening up for us.
Our community had a town meeting last night about the school budget crisis and the place was packed. They are predicting that one out of five schools will close before the end of the school year due to not having enough funds to pay their bills. Our school system is cutting back in many area so they won't have to close. They handed out pre-printed postage paid post cards addressed to our state legislature.(paid by the Parent-Teacher organization). The message to the legislature is to start doing something about this budget crisis.; There will be 50 post cards sent out each day to them, they're hoping it will get their attention. They also plan on closing school February 12 and head for our state capitol. Our teachers and many of our parents will rally at the capitol building and try to meet with the legislators.
Our community is a very patriotic, religious community, they said the pledge to the flag together and sang several patriotic songs before breaking up.</P>

Sounds like its tough times all over in your area. I am glad that you are not feeling so much like a failure personally just because your business failed. Many small businesses do, and it sounds like you and your husband are still well-respected and liked as the competent and nice persons you have always been. It's great you're feeling more upbeat!

    Wishing you well,

    Hi Sadie,

I just watched the bio of Colonel Sanders last night. He had quite a few detours before he found his niche.

Good friends and loving family is what matters in the long run.

In the long run, will your situation force you to relocate if all else doesn't pan out?

    Thanks everyone for the encouragement.

I don't think we want to relocate. Our home is very close to be paid off and I would hate to start all over again. Don't have any other family other than my mom who lives with us and our kids. Oldest is married and is settled here too.

We all love ya, but I guess our love won't pay the bills! The business lady that admired your work for the newspaper and wants you to do a brochure of her products looks good - I really hope something comes of that. Please continue to keep us posted on how you're getting on won't you?

Oh, Sadie, I am sorry to hear of this. These are very tough times for small businesses. I just heard that good ole McDonalds is closing 600 of their eateries, due to "losing millions of dollars".

Some say that only a war will spur this economy. From our own history, it does appear to be so. However, I believe that there are other ways to solve such issues, and we just have to keep searching for them as a society. We also need to keep in contact with our creators and "ask them" and keep asking them for guidance and direction........and then, be wise enough to "hear" the answer when it comes.

When one door closes, another opens. I know you are sad today and rightly so, but sometimes, what appears to be a "bad" thing, turns out to be something else entirely.

I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.
