Did anyone ever question the terminology often used when there is an organizational change ?
They often will mention that "some brothers consciences have permitted them" to do this or that, thereby changing or relaxing the current viewpoint on an issue.
I always wondered if some "had" actually done the thing prior to the article being published, wouldn't they have been DF'd or DA'd. I have asked several elders but never got a reasonable answer.
I've noticed they generally refer to these unnamed "some" when they are relaxing a policy (blood, voting, etc), or if they are disowning a failed prediction. When introducing the new viewpoint, it becomes the opinion of "mature Christians" or "God's people".
This was formerly the opinion of some, but God's people today know that...
Only a subtle difference, but try reversing the two - it doesn't work.
