PAY IT FORWARD----YOU COULD SAVE SOMEONE

Today, I had my eyes opened. Today, the world didn't seem so terrible. Today, my constant cynicism came undone. Today, two people on this board truly restored what little faith I had.

I don't know if any of you saw that movie...Pay It Forward, with Kevin Spacey. I remember seeing it and crying. Thinking...."If only people were really that way." But, it was, after all, only a Hollywood movie. Well, I found out today that it's NOT just a movie.

I thought I'd lost just about everything. What I DID have left was in storage. The rest of my life. I knew I could replace a car, or a glass table, but I could never replace photos, baby books, first grade report cards 15 years old, my Grandmother's crocheted bedspread--the last thing she made before she died.

The letter came---they would auction my things. I had to pay. I didn't have a dime.

Another letter came....a gift from two angels. I had no clue......

With no strings....just do something for someone when I could........just

    PAY IT FORWARD

When I stop crying, I will

    Love...April

    (((((((((((((((( April ))))))))))))

I have also been touched by the kindness and hospitality of strangers, as recently as a week ago when I was in an accident that totalled my car, but otherwise left me unscathed.

As well, a couple of years ago, completely out of the blue, completely unexpected, came two separate incidents of anonymous generosity. I still have no idea who is responsible for them, and believe me, I tried to find out!!

When things like that happen, it's so overwhelming for someone like me - who doesn't let her brain or heart wander too far outside the realm of cynical reality - to be touched by the fact that there really *are* truly good people out there who care, that it reduces me to tears. Happy tears, thankful tears, restore-your-faith-in-humanity tears.

I wish everyone could know what that feels like.

    Love, Scully

    Hi April,

That is very touching, I hope everything is alright with you.

It reminds me of something a very dear friend (a JW believe it or not) had said to me. I had fell into one of the lowest points of my life. This person came through for me asking for no strings attached or anything in return. I had told him that when I got on my feet I would repay him, if it was the last thing I did. And he wrote me back and said, "Don't return kindness...Pass It On!" I would like to see that movie, there are angels in this world.

    April,

I hope things are looking up for you - I really miss the 'old times' in the chatroom and the 'old gang' that used to hang out there (you were one of them).

You really helped me a lot when I travelled to Chicago a few years back - providing invaluable information that I was able to use for my infamous 'Amtrak trip', more than you will ever know. I really appreciated your travel tips.

Take care of yourself, your younguns and Randy, too. Say 'Hey' to him for me.

It's great when folks help each other.

    <wide grin>

    Fond Regards,

    Jim TX

For some reason I have not been able to open this thread until today. I just want to say that the two angels are ((((((wind))))) and (((((((Jim TX)))))))). I'm sorry if they didn't want anyone to know, but I had to tell!! :)

Thank you, (((((Lisa))))), for the phone call. You don't know how much that call meant to me.

I mean it when I say that paying it forward is something we all should do. If each one of us does just one thing for someone else....I mean a life-changing act....this world will be easier to bear.......truly easier to live in.

Thank you guys...from the bottom of my heart.....

    I love you...

I think if the truth be known we might all be a little surprised about how many people are like that out there. The fact is, you never see some people do those favors. Some people just do it and leave no trace, but the attitude is basically that paying it forward IS paying it back to them, they look at loving neighbor as yourself literally. This thought may actually never pop up in their head too, for some people it comes so naturally it just boggles the mind, because they don't seem to even think about it.
