When one studies the Bible, one is encouraged to "run to Jehovah, for he is a strong tower," Jehovah is supposed to let us "roll our burdens" on him, "throw" our burdens on him, ones are told that he will lift us up like eagles, Jehovah is salvation.
With all that said, my question is: Why did the Governing Body and elders in the various congregations think that THEY were protecting Jehovah's name by not coming forth with TRUTH on matters of the court. Whenever a JW is defrauded or molested, I would think that Jehovah is strong enough to clear his own name. After all, JW's are told that they can sanctify Jehovah's name but ONLY Jehovah can vindicate his OWN name.
Aren't they playing GOD by trying to cover up? How is truth brought forth when they cover things up? One is constantly counseled through the pages of the WT that one should not cover over their sins, that they should be brought forth into the light, that only sinners sin in the darkness. The following scriptures (plus a ton more I'm sure, if I had my resources here at work with) prove out that hiding sins is comparable to the sin of Adam and then the Psalmist talks about acknowledging his sin and having it before him?
- JOB 31:33 If I have covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding my iniquity in my bosom:
- PS 51:3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Anyway, it seems to me they are being hypocritical in not bringing forth to light the pedophiles and defrauders. I also believe they are overstepping their boundaries when they believe that Jehovah needs them to cover over things for the sake of their name, if they really believe that then their faith is really lacking in the power of the God they claim to serve.
