I woke up this morning and a strange feeling came over me... then it struck me: OMG! Yesterday the Space Shuttle broke up on reentry.

Odd how sleep makes one forget... only to remember again moments after awakening.

As I was watching the CN news this morning, two former astronauts were being interviewed and it was very enlightening to hear their comments about the tragedy. I took it from their perspective.

They all realize the risks and dangers involved, and it's a personal commitment that these people do in behalf of their fellow man. One of the astronauts had been in space six times while the other astronaut was a black female. These astronauts have a different mind set compared to ours when it comes to space journey and the risk factors. No, the space program will not stop because of this SAD tragedy. When people make commitments (as in marriage) anything can happen.

I felt the same way too Elsewhere. Same as I did on 9/12/01. Kind of "out-of-it".

    Good comments Guest77.

I was just watching it again on the news video. Hard to believe that parts of debris landed in texas and that noone else was injured due to the debris. Personally I'm not a big fan of the space program . It seems everthing they do has something to do with military intelligence or warfare . This does lead me to conspiracy theory thinking though. However , the space program has been very safe throughout the past couple of decades . It's really amazing with all the space walks that there hasn't been more casualties .

I just read the saddest report. They interviewed some of the family members of those that died on the shuttle. One of the woman lost her Niece on the shuttle yesterday and her son in the 9/11 attacks. I just wanted to cry that is so sad. Such tragedy.
