8 However, they are not alone. John, in another vision, sees the sealing of the final ones of the 144,000. (Revelation 7:1-8) Evidently, the gathering of these was virtually complete by 1935.

Apparently, the full number of the 144,000 had yet to be filled. But increasing numbers of those who heeded the message and who showed zeal in the witness work came to profess an interest in living forever on the Paradise earth. They had no desire to go to heaven. That was not their calling. They were no part of the little flock but rather of the other sheep. (Luke 12:32; John 10:16) Their being identified in 1935 as the great crowd of other sheep was an indication that the choosing of the 144,000 was then about complete.

6 In the mid-1930s, something significant took place. What occurred suggested that the membership of the spiritual bride of Christ had been filled, that there were on earth enough spirit-begotten disciples of the Bridegroom to make up the full number of his heavenly bride.

I see no scriptures cited in any of these quotes. Do they still believe this or has there been "new light?"

Trying to gather up some information for my next conversation with dad...any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

When no real scriptural evidence is available so as to prove a point, Mt. 24:45 is used to show that the "faithful and discreet slave" class is giving us the spiritual food at the proper time.

You must be diligent in your research my brother, "Keep on asking, and it will be given YOU ; keep on seeking, and YOU will find; keep on knocking," -- Matt. 7:7. You just need to find the right "door" to knock on.

For you to find the scriptural reasoning behind this, you will have to dig up all of the old dead GB members, bend them over, and then dig REAL deep up their a$$'s (John 10:9).

If you aren't willing to do that, then you will never find the answer to your question.

    hahaha

    so no scriptural support. interesting.

    So...let me get this straight:

They believe 144,000 go to heaven.

They believe God's holy spirit selects these chosen ones.

They believe that by 1935 all of these had already been selected.

There are people that have claimed to be of the anointed since 1935.

These people are not disfellowshipped for going against organizational doctrine.

There is no scriptural support for this organizational doctrine.

If one accepts a blood transfusion, which is not spoken against verbatim in the bible, they can get disfellowshipped.

Evidently, apparently, likely, perhaps, most certainly, it appears,

Well, these are all buzz words the WTS uses when there is no scriptural support but the authority comes from Matthew 24:45 that they are the spokesman for God.

    Equation

    We are the FDS

The FDS was appointed over Christ's belongings

Christ = Jesus as Head and FDS as body

    Thus FDS = Christ

    Christ is God's spokesman

    FDS speaks for God

    Hello back2dafront,

thanks for your topic. Btw, you could also read the quotes in

my post " The never ending saga of the anointed..."

To give you another exemple of ...illogical statement

    take this one:

    "The Watchtower " June 1st, 1959 page 352, QfR

at the end of the 3rd paragraph - before the end of the

    article - we can read:

"The particular assembling of the remnant class continued

on until 1931, in fulfillment of Matthew 24:31. By then a full

    remnant were gathered to Har-Magedon"

    Please notice that

    *** It was written almost 43 years ago;

***That a "full remnant were gathered" already in 1931.

    ***In 1959, they had a different view/opinion/truth

So, you can see, the WTBS Inc., wrote, and continues to

write anything, any nonsense, any men's idea/opinion/view

and gives it to the R&F as if it was "coming from god"()

If i understand thier teaching right, i believe the reason they give (or used to give) for new ones claiming to be of the annointed class, is they basically replace unfaithful annointed ones. ie...those who sin, and are either df'd or unrepentant. This way, they can get around the awkwardness of someone claiming to be of the heavenly class who is very young, and/or inmature spiritually. Since by thier own claims, the class was pretty much filled up by 1930 something.

I remember years ago, my dad telling me of a former brother he knew who was of the remnant and who could not give up the habbit of tobacco. I remember him telling me that he died disfellowshipped for the practice, and therefore forfieted his right to the annointed. Even though i was "in" back then, i just couldnt help but think something wasnt clicking just right.

Back 2 front, i wish you well in your research. I go about every 3 to 6 mos. between debates with my parents. It seems like a losing battle, but you cant never tell what small seed you might plant, that will make him think.

    Take care

I cannot get specific but IIRC the Scriptual support of 1935 must be near the verses supporting 1919. ;-)
