Fantastic! But why being shown in 4K for only 1 day?

Great movie. Amazing too how so many really old films are such incredible quality that modern movies are only just recently getting back to.

    Film vs video

Just saw this a few months back, for the first time (I live in the US, so it's not a yearly broadcast film like it is in the UK).
Really enjoyed it. Part science and engineering procedural, part war film. Love the score for the film. And rumor has it that some movie in 1977 stole major sequences from it! :)

My dad took me to see the film when I was around 10 years old. He'd flown over 40 sorties with the RAF during WW2 and knew all about Lancaster and Halifax bombers. He'd often quip to my mother when she got all panicky that we didn't have enough fuel in our car to get where we going that there was enough left to "Get to Berlin and back".

In recent years its become popular to criticise the raid as having no achieved any thing great. Not so Hitler had to draw an enormous (slave) workforce and re direct massive amounts of construction energy with steel, concrete fuel the work to do the repairs. This affected his war effort in other areas.

The film director of the "Lord of the Rings' trilogy was all set to do a remake of the dam busters but it failed to 'get off the ground.'

Have a VHS of it from the old days when you could copy a tape off the televised version.

I recall from my research that the bombs were actually cylindrical, not spherical.
