In the last congregation we attended, the COBOE told the accounts servant not to post the monthly congregation reports account; just to show it to jws who asked to see it! Was that the COBOE's personal decision then or have other jws had that done in their congregation?

@blondie: It depends on your jurisdiction. In some jurisdictions (eg. UK and most of the EU) a non-profit has to display or recount an accurate report of their accounts, income and expenditure, at least monthly to all members.

In most of the US they don't necessarily have to show the full account (all the details) and may get away with a summary although depending on your membership and what the charter of the organization says you may be entitled to see it.

To that effect, when I was an accountant for the KH the "instructions" changed from "display and read a full account from the platform (if you remember that 10m 'talk' in the Kingdom Ministry every month)" over a "synopsis only on the board" to "no accounting published, only a synopsis on request" - all with the appropriate bible verses off course to make their point. The changes were also accompanied by the various requests to send more money to the WT org and eventually they confiscated all the savings without any accounting to the congregation (remember when they said, the WT org is going to be holding on to our savings instead of the bank - that savings was not to be used)

@Anony Mous, thanks for the input. We had left before the savings confiscation edict. My husband was told to read all the thank you letters for donations from the WTS as reminders to the members to donate. He thought that was unnecessary since they should trust god to provide what they needed.

I don't remember anything Jesus said that suggested that the apostles should remind the people coming to hear Jesus talk to donate.

Doesn't this Congregation Accounts form show that the so called Global assistance resolution is a separate resolution from the Worldwide Work ? Is this a separate mortgage per publisher/per congregation ? But only for a year!

I remember that savings deposit thing. 10000 went to the society and was supposed to be available for emergencies in the congregation. When seats were needed they took in pledges I wanted to raise my hand and ask what happened to that 10000

I think the money came from a bro who inherited a large amount. As I remember right after the inheritance there was 20000 quietly showed up. The elders sent 10000 right away as a donation, then the deposit thing came along. I am sure as I can be without questioning anyone that the donation was meant as a cushion for a poor congregation that was always having the electricity shut off
