@blondie: It depends on your jurisdiction. In some jurisdictions (eg. UK and most of the EU) a non-profit has to display or recount an accurate report of their accounts, income and expenditure, at least monthly to all members.
In most of the US they don't necessarily have to show the full account (all the details) and may get away with a summary although depending on your membership and what the charter of the organization says you may be entitled to see it.
To that effect, when I was an accountant for the KH the "instructions" changed from "display and read a full account from the platform (if you remember that 10m 'talk' in the Kingdom Ministry every month)" over a "synopsis only on the board" to "no accounting published, only a synopsis on request" - all with the appropriate bible verses off course to make their point. The changes were also accompanied by the various requests to send more money to the WT org and eventually they confiscated all the savings without any accounting to the congregation (remember when they said, the WT org is going to be holding on to our savings instead of the bank - that savings was not to be used)
