After several years of fairly calm winters, we are really getting our share of snow. Right now we are in the middle of quite a blizzard. We made the trip to Kentucky on Valentine's day to see family, and planned to stay the weekend, when the weather took a turn and we headed out yesterday evening, opting to drive the eleven hours home, over the mountains of West Virginia. Nothing but hard rain at first, then freezing slush, snow, and more of the same all the rest of the 500 some miles! We saw no accidents, and there were just very few people out at all. We arrived home at 2:30AM this morning and it was just beginning to lay on the roads! We are glad to be back. We have at least a foot of snow here right now.
We just got word that the family we just visited (hubby's son and family) had to leave their home and begin driving southward, as the ice storm hit Kentucky really hard last night after we left, and there was no heat in their home. They have a month old new baby!
Weather patterns are so different these days. No wonder the weather people have a difficult time trying to do their forecasts accurately. I have to say, though, that this time, they were right on the mark.
