Is Jesus your mediator? to death and back?
Have you read Crisis of Conscience? It exposes the Witness Organization as far less than what we hoped. Generally speaking, it took guts and a desire to know truth for us to read it, especially if we were still associated with the JW's".
Why stop there? There are many well written and researched books (e.g.: The Christ Conspiracy, by Acharya S.) that expose Christianity as far less than what we hoped.
On the surface this can be quite a tragedy, to have the rug of our deeply cherished ideas of Truth/God pulled out from under us. It is understandable that many would never consider voluntarily going down such a road, it is too terrifying to even think of. Yet, if we are willing to have our false beliefs about God, exposed -- does that not open the door to what is True?
My answer to your question Nightwarrior is: "no". I need not look to any deity, object, or phenomena, to mediate, or be an intermediary between me and God (or rather, the Infinite, the word points to) as there is and was, no separation in the first place (except in my mind and it's religious beliefs).
