Honestly, I was surprised at this. I knew people played cricket here in Canada, but you hardly hear much about it.
I was listening to the news, and didn't hear anything about it, but I'm sure there will be a snippet in the newspaper.
Hockey? I won't go there, but the Leafs won last night !

Cricket is currently the be-all and end-all in South Africa. Everywhere you go, cricket this, cricket that. It's actually quite an exciting game, provided you watch one-day matches and not Test cricket, for which matches can take place over DAYS! Cricket is actually a very tense, strategic sport if played properly, and the SA team is currently under-performing, which is sad. Damnit!
do you need specialty cable channels to watch it? I only have basic cable.

It came as a surprise that Canada plays cricket, although it is a member of the Commonwealth. In fact, I've often asked the question "Why doesn't Canada play cricket"? Good to see they do - why should they get away with that sort of level of frustration and boredom???????
I was surprised to find out that New Caledonia, a French colony, is mad about cricket. I suppose that's because it's surrounded by cricketing nations.
Most of the time, if you ask any Canuck about cricket, they think of: insects.
The game, we kind of know of it, but it's not popular. If I didn't see this post, I wouldn't have known we even had a team. Occasionally you'll read a snippet about it, but trust me.....it's probably the last sport listed in our papers/television/radio (if at all).

As far as cricket being 'all the rage'...um...in Canada...don't think so...don't hold your breath or anyone elses.
