My usename Guest 77 doesn't appear as the postee, but my password does, so don't get confused, either its Murphy's law at play or demons. Does anyone watch Court TV? Yesterday they had two stories of witnesses killing family members all because of this shunning practice. One family had moved to Oregon and the husband had financial problems besides shunning, he ended up killing his family and went to Mexico and they extradited him. The other story I didn't get, but the man committed suicide after taking out the family. Anyone know or heard about these stories?

    You're kidding, right?

Do the names Christian Longo and Robert Bryant ring any bells?

Being new here, you probably didn't know that these have both been big stories for the past year. Use the Search function to look up Longo and Bryant and you will have plenty of reading to bring you up-to-date.

I would find it interesting to hear what the witnesses say when asked about these people doing these horrific crimes. Especially because the witnesses are so much better than that; they are no part of the world.

But, as usual, I am sure they would dribble some nonsense that they left the truth by DAing or getting DF'd, so these really don't count. They were not real witnesses.

The question I would then have, is what about all the child molesters, and other abuse that goes on all the time in the congregation. They really are not all that pure after all.

I can just hear the mentality now: they no longer had Jah's protection, they were then under Satan's influence. Thus since they were under Satan's influence the jw's are still the only one with jah's blessings and protection.

A dub rebutal:They probably weren`t real witness`s(active).A real witness wouldn`t have done such a thing..Were they disfellow shipped? They were probably kicked out for good reason.I mean look what they did.No wonder they`re outside of gods organization..blah-bla-blah.....OUTLAW

Nathan, I really don't keep up with the JW news. I watch Court TV often and they showed a segment the other day and I thought I would inquire. Most likely this will be aired again, at least the court proceedings. The host of the show is Catherine Crier. I enjoy the watching court TV.

I have been a bit cross-eyed at how little news-play the JW angle on these murders has gotten. The general public is pretty much unaware - even where I live, Southwest Washington - just over the river from Portland. I think it is newsworthy how being tossed out of a group that has been your social, familial, and financial center, can really screw a person up.

I think that if the mother had been the perp., it would have received more air time (and no, I'm not trying to start a fight). People pretty much don't care why. I think the sentiment is 'fry the bastard, and pass the potato chips.' Remeber the woman that drowned her kids? I saw a lot more news about the nutty-as-a-fruitcake religious stuff that family was into.
