Has any of you seen the movie Joe Dirt? Hubby wanted to rent it last weekend so we watched it. Ok - very dumb movie - but there was an underlying moral to the story that just jumped out at me.
Joe Dirt is deserted by his mom & dad at the Grand Cayon when he's a kid (being DF'd)
From that day forward he spends all his effort/energy/money on trying to find out what happened to his parents. He's convinced something bad happened and they will be reunited again (trying to reconcile being shunned by family - hoping the situation can be resolved, they will want to visit our children, they will see the truth someday......)
He eventually finds out that his parents did in fact dump him at the Grand Canyon - it was no accident (the devastation when one realizes our family DOES love the organization more than us and that will never change)
In the end, he realizes that the girl he had been friends with throught the movie had always loved him. As Joe Dirt says "I had a family all along, I just didn't realize it until this moment" (realizing that FAMILY can be whomever and whatever you make it)
