The Great Leap err Sideways

One of the most disturbing aspects of the recent cut backs is the big brother communist undemocratic aspect to it.

In China in the fifties untold millions died of starvation when on a whim the “Great Leap Forward” made the economy do a “u turn”. Anyone who objected even slightly was in big deep trouble. This is what occurs when there is no opposition allowed.

I see a parallel with the current decision making process at Chariot HQ.

The ideas are thrown out there and executed without any reference to those whose lives are affected. There is no negotiation, on one considers any sort of protest. There are no strikes to protect those thrown into the street. The rule of fear means that everyone just takes it.

The requirement for absolute obedience and silence of any contrary opinions seems to me to be unhealthy and dangerous.

    What say you?

I say - why aren't you at your meeting brother? Ten o clock on a Sunday morning and you're posting theories that if true, would paint the GB as unthinking uncaring dictating monsters.

I'm sure the 1600 bethelites will be ecstatic to suddenly have to accommodate, feed, clean, and support themselves while still giving their all in service to the GB. I mean to Yahweh. Shame on you!

SLIDIN, you just need to learn how to obey so you can have Jehovah's blessing.

Likewise with the cancelling of the Tuesday evening group study in someone's home. It upset many J.W.'s to lose the closer atmosphere - but the Org cancelled it "to save the brothers' fuel costs."

Following which, J.W.'s were forced to travel further, longer, and fork out greater amounts of cash in order to travel to more distant convention sites which would be financially more lucrative for the Branches/Org. (not to mention J.W.'s being "encouraged" to pledge a fixed amount of money to the Org!)

The alleged "faithful slave" clearly demonstrates Christian concern for the flock of God! (Matthew 25:45,46)

p.s. Sunday mornings at home are wonderful, thanks!

Aren't the WTS lucky that they don't have to follow the same HR policies that are enforced in law for commercial companies that downsize. No consultation. No severance pay. No discussion.

It's amazing that the WTS still has the balls to bang on about their policies and standards of practice being not just equal to secular requirements but going above and beyond.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone on this site ever went to college or not, because there is not a lot of critical thinking going on sometimes.

Do you know anything about China? Do you know anything about what happened there in the 20th Century aside from what's on Wikipedia? So many members on this site connect abstract facts to something else that is abstract, both having no bearing on one another, that it is unbelievably laughable!

What does Chairman Mao trying to change China into a socialist society have to do with recent changes in the JW org? Ah, I don't see a logical thread connecting them aside from some crazy abstract theory by someone has too much time on their hands. Mao's stupidity killed some 50 million Chinese. Unless you have some digital pics of a bunch of dead JW's laying around somewhere I don't see a connection.
