    We are coming upon the 14th anniversary of the explosion of the USS Iowa. Let us remember the good men and women who were killed in the line of duty when turret 2 exploded. My heart goes out to their survivors and to the ones left behind.

    David, my brother,

    Out of respect to you, I will not give your forum alias but I did want to speak with you. Although it's been 14 years since that fateful day, I don't know if you have ever allowed me to tell you how very grateful I am that you survived. I know that this time of year brings you much sadness. I know that you still miss your buddies. Even though you refuse to speak about the horrors of that day, I hope that you will be able to find the solace that you so desperately need. Just please know that there are many of us who remember. I love you.

    The Navy HymnEternal Father, Strong to save,
    Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
    Who bid'st the mighty Ocean deep
    Its own appointed limits keep;
    O hear us when we cry to thee,
    for those in peril on the sea.

    I remember the tragedy that befell the USS Iowa.... very very sad indeed. I constantly thank God for the men and women in the military who help to watch over our country and protect our freedoms. Thanks for posting this most needful reminder.

    Double Edge,

    You are one of the few who do remember. In this day of soundbites and quick information, it is easy to forget. Thank you for remembering.

    Love,

    Robyn, thank for the reminder. In todays world, we often forget the sacrifices our men and women in uniform make for us to remain a free people. We need to remember them often and remind ourselves that is their sacrifices that have kept us free.

    ((((((Lew))))))),

    I am glad you remembered too. My brother sometimes feels as if the USS Iowa has been forgotten by all but a few. I am hoping that he sees this thread. He rarely comes here and posts even less, but I have my fingers crossed.
