I never start topics like this normally but this has really wound me up. Romulus is getting great reviews and I just don't understand it. It was predictable, formulaic fanfiction.

It brought nothing new, quite the opposite in fact. The first four movies gave us Ripley's arc, Prometheus and Covenant would have brought us full circle with a more cerebral development of the central themes and origins of the whole story.

For 60 year olds like me who watched Alien in the cinema as a stunned teenager in 1979 that was so rewarding but now we've been robbed of the final prequel because audiences with modern attention spans can't handle 10 minutes without an action scene.

    Romulus sucked.

Here is an honest review of Alien Romulus. It is a movie that is catering to the new generation that has never seen the first alien movies

It's not a movie for the overlapping generation.

It's so 'meta' if you think about it. Big corporation tries to extract the essence of Alien, ends up in disaster.

Imaginary pitch meeting for Alien Romulus:

Exec: I got a great idea! Let's do Rogue One, but with Alien!
Studio head: Sounds good! Just don't do that Peter Cushing thing again, OK?
Exec: Oh but it'll be cool! Please??
