What if Elizabeth Smart were one of Jehovah's Witnesses?

I read in the paper this morning that the Mormon church considers Elizabeth Smart to be "pure before God." I couldn't help but wonder if Elizabeth Smart were one of Jehovah's Witnesses, what the elders' reaction would be? Do they take the attitude that she was raped? If so, she didn't scream so she must have been "asking for it", so she would have to be disfellowshipped. She was kidnapped at night from her bedroom, so she surely wasn't dressed head to toe, so again she was "asking for it", and she should be severely counseled for dressing inapprpriately.

However, they could also take the tack that this was child abuse, in which case Elizabeth Smart would have to present two eyewitnesses to the "alleged" abuse, which would include the actual act of rape. Her sister only saw her being kidnappped so she doesn't count. So since no one actually saw the actual abuse occur (that we know of), it must not have happened, therefore neither Elizabeth Smart, nor her parents should talk about the kidnapping in public, or to police or to the media, since that would be slander and a true Christian should never spread slander against anyone. After all the kidnapper/rapist does have feelings too! And her grandfather should be severely counseled for slander since he spoke to the congregation about this "alleged" event and he should be required to offer up an apology to the kidnapper/rapist for slandering him.

Now, in no way am I trying to show disrespect for the horror this child has gone through and the agony her parents have experienced. However I am trying to point out the ridiculuous lengths Jehovah's Witnesses go to and the out and out evil of a couple of Witness policies. Can you imagine how much difficult on this child, and her family, this experience would have been if they were all baptized Jehovah's Witnesses?

I saw Dateline on Friday night, and Elizabeth's abductor's ex wife was on, with her daughter, whom he molested between ages 8 and 12. They were Mormons. She said the church didn't want her to go to the authorities and they would handle it "in house". She finally did go to the police years later, but they dropped the case. Didn't believe the girl. So the record didn't show a negative about him, when they began checking him out.

    Sound familiar?

Well the JW"s could forgive Elizabeth Smart, as long as she told the elders what sort of underware she was wearing and any other assorted details they might require.

Regardless of what went down it's good she's home.

I don't want to even think what would happen to that little girl Elizabeth Smart if she had been a JW. I am glad she's at home with her parents and family. She is truly a miracle.

One of the most sick comments I have seen so far is this:

"Brian is the one who got that girl back safely ... Now, that's quite an accomplishment," the senior Mitchell told CNN over the weekend.

Yep... it was so kind of this brainwashing child rapist get caught... err... bring her back.

Scary to ponder if she were a witness. Being the brainless, unforgiving, hateful people that the WTS are, and given their past record, I would say that Elizabeth would be welcomed back by being disfellowshipped.

The fact is, that she had opportunities to escape, or to reach out for help. Brainwashing? Of course that happened. But the WTS does not offer that as an excuse. They would make things worse for her.

Quotes from the father of the kidnapper/rapist:

"Brian is the one who got that girl back safely ... Now, that's quite an accomplishment," the senior Mitchell told CNN over the weekend.

"How many of these fiends, degenerates, take little kids and dismember their bodies or kill them outright and bury them. Now when they're getting to be overcritical of Brian, they should remember that," he said, urging that Mitchell not be "dumped out as garbage."

Mitchell's father, 83, who described himself as a voyeur and the author of two volumes about his personal theology that include explicit sexual content, also acknowledged showing his son pictures of genitalia at the age of seven or eight.

The father said he believes his erotic literature contributed to an after-school episode of indecent exposure when Mitchell was a teenager.

This attitude reminds me of a quote from a 1964 Watchtower regarding rape wherein the Society actually told sisters that although they should scream they should also be "polite" to their rapist since he is a fellow human being and has feelings too. These people all seem to think alike. Very very scary.

So the father of the pervert is also a pervert. Gee, hard to figure. Now while not favoring abortion I do favor retroactive abortion.
