Are you the type to do things your way all the time and make your own errors, or do you rely on the experience of older, wiser persons to guide you in life and hope to make less errors?
Do you learn from others experience?

In my case, my parents have good judgement, and they succeeded well in life, so they were always giving me advice on what to do or not to do.
By listening to them, I was like an extension to their lives, so in a way I wasn't myself.
I think it is preferable to be yourself and do what pleases you, even if you will make errors in life. You might regret many bad moves you've done, but you will grow and learn from it.

I am one that beleives in both the wisdom of older generations as well as making your own mistakes .. I think when it comes down to a choice that I have to make on a serious issue I would sum up others advice and also my own perspective and take the wisest choice from my perspective. I mean depending one what it's to do with some advice might work for you and other advice might not be best suited to you, we are all unique inderviduals and somtimes what works well for others will completely stuff you up.
I'm no good with my sentence structure tonight, I hope you get what I mean.

Proverbs 3
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straightDon't lean on your own understanding says the bible.
As a JW, we were told not to think for ourselves, like stated above, but to follow the congregation.
Did you feel as if they stole a part of your personality, and made a troll out of you from this verse?

Experience is great, however, wisdom comes from using someone else's experiences and learning from those.

Personally, I'd rather be in control of my own life. I want to make my own mistakes, and my own triumphs. I observe what goes on around me, but I like to make the final choices based on my observations and experiences.
