We went out for afternoon tea today and silence was served well. Its bloody painful..

I share your sentiment. 'pre convention' stress equates to pre-meeting stress, that anxiety you feel the whole day up and to including going to the meetings. Somehow the stress seemed to die-down once you are there for some reason, go figure.
But yeah, there was that 'anxiety' felt the days prior to the convention/assembly. The similar 'stress' of the 'meeting' days or that similar 'dread' on Sundays.
I don't miss those days... entire weekends wasted away, sitting in an auditorium, listening to the same recycled verbal vomit.
How great it is now for many of us. We get home on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and there is no rush to put on a suit, quickly eat and go to meetings. Being able plan entire weekend outings, without fear of losing a meeting. Waking up late on sundays, instead of going out and wasting our time knocking on people's door who don't want to listen anyway.
All of this without any guilty feelings because it was all a lie.
It just all seemed so ''surreal''. Waiting all winter long like those days in Feb/March winter dragging-on.
When a steamy-summer July day came along you found yourself sitting in an arena in plastic-molded seat. Thinking 'wasting your life away' being manipulated by those weird, boring talks. ''you waste the whole year away waiting for summer'' and then you find yourself in the nicest weather of the year sitting in an arena or a stuffy KH on weekends. That's your life, on a merry-go-round. Listening to someone's propaganda.
But, you know they will come back and say "It was the BEST convention ever!!"
''But, you know they will come back and say "It was the BEST convention ever!!"
I think most of the JW's are only saying that to tell people what they want to hear.
Thanks to you all.
"It was the BEST convention ever!!" such a comment is only made by people who have not had any contemporary training in public speaking..or even studied great public speakers .
take a look at some of the TED talks. (google TED)
I still look at the reflection in the mirror of myself today and point the finger at him and say it was you who wasted all of those 33 years in a cult religion , going to conventions up and down the country taking the wife and kids to them ,it certainly wasn`t me as I point to myself and say I`ve got more sense than that to be sucked in by a cult such as J.W`s and believe in fairytales .
And then the reality sets in , you and he are one and the same, and I still have trouble processing that fact.
How could I have possibly believed all of that nonsense for so long and worse still brought up my two boys into that
religion after previously indoctrinating my then girlfriend and marrying her in a K.H.
Thankfully we are all out now but I wonder sometimes just how much it has stuffed up their lives and how different we all would have turned out had I not converted when courting my then girlfriend .
