out of curiosity, I went to the JW website to see if they had posted anything about Helene, it's damage, and what their relief plans may be, i any. I looked in the news and in video sections to see if there were any postings. I couldn't find anything. ( maybe someone else has seen something ) Anyway, when you think of all of the JWs that have been effected by this storm, wouldn't you think there would be some sort of acknowledgement and encouragement from the org. Any PIMO elder here know what if anything is on their agenda. ( can't help but think they are counting their chickens with their relief/collect insurance scam....money, money, money! A question has come to my mind whether the Gov gives money to religious organizations to assist with disasters. Answer? I would bet the org makes application for reimbursements. They always claim😉 to be the first in. I know local secular search rescue started from here (mtn west) 3 days ago.
We will see Cajun navy, church groups, national guard arrive. Even Red Cross.

They haven't figured out how to pocket some money from any relief effort they might launch.

They can pocket insurance money while using unpaid JW labor to perform repair work. But that is for locations that suffer damage, of course. I am not aware that they ever set up aid stations or send supplies as part of relief efforts.
Thankfully, there are probably plenty of other charitable organizations (including religious ones) that will provide JWs with food and medicine, without asking questions. They won't even know they are JWs, unless they set up a cart nearby...

This is not unusual. For all their talk about JW News being the place to go for the "latest" information, it's really very slow.
It takes them days to post anything significant, whether it's storms in the USA, the shooting in Germany, or earthquakes in Japan. Just compare the dates these events happen with the dates on the actual JW news articles they've posted.
I understand the need to have accurate information and not rush to post rumours as if it were Twitter/X, but if they were truly interested and on the lookout for breaking news concerning Witnesses, they'd have someone in WT HQ assigned to post at least basic info as soon as a story breaks (at least within 8-12 hours), with relevant updates as they come in. They're supposed to be interested in making the R&F feel part of a global brotherhood and keep one another in their prayers in times of difficulty, etc.
They're a worldwide organisation, so they could have someone on 'duty' 24/7 around the world on 'breaking news' assignment, ready to post or update articles if a major political event or natural disaster happens. Especially as this is supposed to be so close to the end, with "critical times" here.

Hurricane Helene is a nothing story on Canadian Mainstream media. The news this weekend is the Middle East war and climate change in Alaska.
The flooding is the 27th news article on CBC world news this morning. I guess it’s not part of their propaganda agenda. Maybe it’s not important enough for the Watchtower either.
That being said I follow independent news out of the US as well as Canada and the flooding from Helene is catastrophic.
It’s like the mainstream media and Watchtower are on the same team and share notes. It’s all about milking the labour of commoners and them leading us in a certain way for THEIR benefit.

I saw that Franklin Graham and others are busy offering assistance to ALL affected. Maybe they can help some of the JWs in Asheville who need help.
