Anointed from all over the world. If I'm not mistaken there were a Anointed sister

in my old congregation back in the 70's that was invited. I have been out since 1987 and

my mind become foggy some times.

Could it be that the following statement from the wikipedia article on the GB has been somehow misquoted or misunderstood, and that is how the story began?

"The Governing Body does not consult with the other anointed Witnesses whom it was said to represent when formulating policy and doctrines or approving material for publications and conventions"

There was a time (1970's and before) that the annual meeting was only open to voting members of the Society. Most or all of them were anointed ( at that time) so there was a perception that they were going to a special meeting for the anointed. But it wasn't, it was just the annual meeting. I knew one of the voting members (now deceased) and I remember some talk about it.

Perhaps this is what the OP had in mind. Back about 1973 when the Watchtower was preparing the 1975 Yearbook, they did consult with many old time JWs in the U.S. A., many who were "anointed," regarding their experiences in the early part of the 20th century. A friend's grandmother got a letter from the Watchtower asking her to relate her experiences as a JW. However, the Watchtower requested that she only relate positive experiences, and leave out anything negative.

The 1975 Yearbook of JWs had a detailed history of U.S. JWs from Russell's time to 1974. Because it included many personal experiences, the 75 YB is a more objective history of JWism in the U.S. than the Proclaimers Book. Still is leaves much to be desired if one wants a truly factual history of the JWs.

So I'm sure it was the annual meeting that the Anointed sister was invited too and

not a spacial meeting for the Anointed. That makes sense.

With the new understanding of the faithful slave, I am not even sure why they even make a fuss of the magical 144,000. The sad part I am pretty sure there are plenty JW that are not even aware of the doctorial flip flop. I have since read literature printed after the new understanding and I am not even sure the entire writing department has gotten the memo.

Heck I am not even too sure why they have the memorial since the anointed are just figureheads now.
