Follow this link for the Watchtower's official response to my question about active JWs talking with former JWs on the internet:

So those JW's who come to forums like this are placing themselves in danger with their congregation, I assume??

I actually applaud the JW's who come to these forums for discussion (as long as they aren't being hard-assed trolls about it), even if their views are quite pro-Witness. Sometimes after a while they get to see the Watchtower brand of "truth" for what it is, a man-made body of work that shifts with time. Watchtower doctrine is just guesswork about life's important questions, no less so than any other organized religion.

The internet is on the loose -- the Watchtower cannot stop it. Their loyal ones (those intimated by their tactics) will abide by their myopic and paranoid restrictions ("though shalt only read our publications"). But this is the Information age, and they are powerless to stop the flow of information.

    I agree with you Gopher.

If you read the WT letter you will see that they class a JW coming on such a forum as this as just as bad as actually speaking to a person who has been DF'd or DA'd.

How did Jesus treat Taxcollecters? Did he not talk to them? Did he not eat with them? He did in fact choose one of them to be an apostle didn't he?

It was always explained to me that DF ones were worse than wordly tax collectors because at one time we had the truth, then we rejected it.

Apostates fell into their own special category, in my congregation at least, of not even being worthy of discussing.

Thanks, I always knew I was special.

And I would just like to thank (*sniffle*) all the little people (the ones who ignored me, belittled me, and treated me like dirt in the congregation) who helped me get where I am today. May they get what they deserve.

    Nina
