Is there a way of finding out how many ex'JW's there are and also how many 'inactive ones' there are, just curious ?
Do you think there are as many in this ORG as there are that have left?

Good question. There are a heck of a lot that are out, in one way or another.

Just compare the numbers in the Jan 1st Watchtower
The average publisher number should increase every year by the amount Bpzd
If the increase is less than half the number bpzd the no of inactive ones is growing faster than the active JWs

Since 1949, taking the average publishers each year, adding the number baptized each year, and adjusting for 1% annual mortality, there are now about 1,700,000 inactive/DAd/DFd JWs (inactive in the sense of were at least at one time counted as reg pubs). Of that number, about 700,000 are DFd.
Of course, that doesn't count the millions of others who studied, or were raised in the WTS, were never baptized and/or became reg pubs, and walked away.
If you (or anyone else)would like the spreadsheet (52 KB, Excel2000), e-mail me at [email protected].
