Has anyone ever heard of a group called Eckankar? They're based out of Minnesota. There is a Vice President of the company I work for that's really into it. Passes out his tracts and stuff to new or seemingly impressionable employees <spooky>. As an employee of the H.R. department, it pisses me off and reminds me of the JW's. However, it's more of a "Scientology based" religion and the more money you pay the higher on the food chain you become. Check out the website. It's absolutely HYSTERICAL and when I want a good laugh, I log on: www.eckankar.com

They had a church in my city, but it closed up a year or so ago. I'm not sure what they are about (don't care enough to check out your link). I remember taliking to one once, and it was something about being spokes in a wheel or something, with God being the hub??????????
I gave it all the consideration it was worth!

Rightly so Stan, I'd only give 'em 2/10 for use of illustrations.

Here is what I found on the Freedom of Minds web site about Eckankar.

Eckankar has a lot of the same issues that JWism has, but perhaps is not as dangerous to its members. Eckankar seems to be a hodgepodge of tantric and other eastern ideas returned to America and packaged up for a quick sale. If you are interested in learning about esoteric or mystical traditions, go with the real thing, not some cheap knock-off.

This eckankar stuff sounds like a mix of Eastern Religions and New Age....You want something REALLY weird..Try Scientology. Some one described it as being a mix of the Moonies and the Mafia.
