Then there was an interview with two longtime Bethelites who were both asked about defining moments in their service. The woman mentioned studying the so-called "deep" publications, and they showed these two on screen.

Ironically the one on the right was the book famous for saying the end would come in 1975, but that went over everybody's heads. She also mentioned the day when the GB announced that multiple longtime Bethelites would be "reassigned" aka canned. She was confused because they had always been told to make Bethel their career for life, and now this. But she said it taught her that Jehovah knows what's best. Of she wasn't one of the ones kicked to the curb, so that probably helped.

The man here who was interviewed said he was baptized in Jan. 1975 (just made it apparently 😅) and his defining moment was when he married a young sister who was working under him. And here's the picture of him with his child bride.

(For those who can't tell: The black woman being interviewed with him is NOT his wife.)

Wow, his first wife was really cute, I wonder what the background to his life story was.

If I were still in, that would probably be my answer too. I suspect older JWs who are more studiously inclined would find the current lightweight publications deeply unsatisfying. The Watchtower and Awake! "magazines" are no longer magazines and could be more accurately called "tracts". There is nothing in the organization that absorbs the focus and commitment as much as those older, "meatier" publications. Of course, hogwash is hogwash whether in the form of 600 plus pages or 15. But at least those old tomes gave an appearance of 'deeper study'.
