    STUDY ARTICLE 47

7 Maintain your spiritual routine. Consider how doing so helped Shirley, a sister in Papua New Guinea, when she faced hardships. b Shirley’s family was poor and, at times, struggled to obtain enough food. A relative tried to undermine her trust in Jehovah. He said: “You say that God’s holy spirit is helping you, but where is the help? The family is still poor. You are wasting your time preaching.” Shirley admits: “I asked myself: ‘Does God care about us or not?’ So I immediately prayed to Jehovah and told him everything that was on my mind. I kept up with reading the Bible and our publications, and I continued to preach and attend meetings.” She soon began to realize that Jehovah was looking after her family. Her family did not go hungry, and they were happy. Shirley says: “I felt that Jehovah was answering my prayers.” (1 Tim. 6:6-8) If you stick to your spiritual routine, you too will not allow hardships or doubts to separate you from Jehovah.

Shirley's family struggle to put food on the table. A relative undermines her trust and dedication to Jehovah. This story is starting to resemble the book of Job where Job is afflicted with leprosy. Job's wife said to him, ''Are you still holding to your piety? Curse God and die.''

Shirley prays to Jehovah, reads the Bible and the Watchtower publications, preaches and attends meetings. What is Shirley's result with maintaining all her spiritual routine? Jehovah answers her prayer by her family not going hungry.

She stuck to a spiritual routine and all her hardships went away! Just like the story of Job (who never cursed God) God rewarded him with double what he lost.

The article doesn't tell us how Jehovah answered her prayers. Where did Shirley get her food? Did Jehovah drop food from the sky? Did she get a better paying job? Did she work more hours? Did someone donate food?

Maybe she went down the street to the local Christian church for a free meal with no strings attached?

    RULES & REGULATIONS:

Of course, they don’t answer those questions.

I always hated these types of articles because you could never know if the person was real. Naturally, there are so many needy people in the JW religion because they didn’t get a decent job/career but spent their time in the ministry.

Maybe it’s like CARLA said: the hypothetical person went down to ANOTHER local Christian church and got provisions with no questions asked and no strings attached.
