Our innovative, free-market economy has provided new vaccines and therapies in record time.
We would all be better off if medicine and pharmaceuticals were produced for the benefit of the many, not the profit of the few. Oxford University for example initially stated their intention to allow all countries free access to the recipe for their vaccine, until Bill Gates stepped in to prevent it. This kind of ideological market intervention we could all do without.

@slimboyfat: that’s what they did in the EU, as a result, the EU developed no treatment, the US paid EU manufacturers to create the patented treatments we have today. Biden was going to do the same thing by making the patents open, he quickly turned around because the manufacturers said they would simply halt production and let others develop them, then Joe found out there is nowhere near the necessary capacity in any other system. If there is no incentive, nobody will develop the cure.

The Oxford vaccine had already been developed by Oxford University using public funds. No further incentive was required to develop the vaccine. Bill Gates thwarted their plan to let other countries have it cheap, motivated purely by his own self interest. People are dying as a result. That’s your “efficient market” for you.
Wasn’t the Pfizer vaccine developed in the EU? And they are just as bad for not sharing it with poor countries. The ideological defence of capitalism is against all good sense and against the self interest of the vast majority of human beings who suffer because of its reallocation of resources from poor to the rich.

I'm not saying the Rona isn't a real thing. However, the politicians and media are probably drunk on the power it's given them. They will definitely lie about the figures. Of that I'm certain. Not only to cover up their blunders but to gain power.
Like George Carlin wisely said, “My first rule: I don’t believe anything the government tells me.”
EG: A relative of mine died with kidney failure due to old age. The hospital said he died 'with' rona, knowing full well that this would help inflate the reality of the figures. They use 'with' for 'of', which it isn't. It adds to the media's fear porn that they love to expouse.
My prediction is that we will be fed lies and fear about the rona so that we can be controlled more. There's something rotten in the state of Denmark!
The media and politicians are going to milk the rona for all they can. Mark my words. this won't go away any time soon.
