I was in a team meeting today at work with a man who is a JW. I found out because I heard someone say he doesn't celebrate birthdays; I kept my eyes open and of course, in his desk drawer was "Examining the Scriptures".

Well, at the meeting, one of my coworkers said, "I have four children, two girls, a boy and my husband".

He blurts out, "That's not funny. That's disrespectful. You shouldn't talk about your husband that way. It's not your place."

Everyone else was astonished, but I wasn't surprised. He continued to mutter under his breath; I couldn't make out much of what he was saying but I did hear "subjection".

Now, until I found this board, I probably would have told him I was DF, and not to talk to me. Now, thanks to all of you, I realize I don't have to play by the WTS rules. If the owner of the universe thinks it is necessary for this man to know, I'm sure he can figure out a way to do it.

Thanks for the gift of freedom, everyone.

He ought to talk about being disrespectful. Saying something like that to a coworker is ridiculous. Not a very good "witness" on behalf of the Witnesses.

wel ever since the poor brother's wife made fun of his penis on the Dr. Phil show he has had some "respect" issues.

And I'm glad for you. How well I remember in those early years how I'd apologize to "wordly" people for my df status. GAWD, that's disgustingly funny looking back. OMGosh, I'm so happy too find some humor with my former insanity.

Yeap, they can spiel worth their vileness and it's always ok. They lack basic, everyday common sense and courtesty.

I hate these type of witnesses that was at that board meeting. The lady obviously was making a joke, and most people would realize that, laugh, and get on with what needed to be talked about.

That guy was so way out of line. If one of my employees acted like that, they would be gone.

I agree with a previous post, that he was not "giving a good witness" or "setting a good example" for those who were not witnesses. But, I would sum that up saying that the guy is an asshole, and that not all witnesses are like that.

    Imagine being his wife.

    Hi Rosemarie,

What a self righteous moron. He certainly made a good impression. Instead of laughing along with his coworkers joke, he feels its his place to counsel the world. What a loser. If I was at the meeting I would have told him that he was wrapped too tight and that he needed to chill out. Didn't the employee tell him, in so many words, where to go? Now everyone at the job will be sure to avoid him, but of course, it will be persecution by the devil, not because he is an anal retentive, overbearing, holier-than-thou maniac.

I would have shot back with something like: What's the matter, does your wife feel the same way about you too??

    Love, Scully
