Found this awesome website where you can type two things in and compare anything in a nice neat little chart. So, just for kicks, I typed in Jehovah's Witnesses vs. Mormonism ... and look! Just look! Who the hell gave them the information for JWs??? It was obviously JWs! Sheesh!

How can they say Jesus was the original witness ? How about the prophets ? Moses ? Noah etc,?

And doesnt Isa.43:10-12 identify the nation of Israel as being his witnesses ? even though they never took it upon themselves to call themselve such.?

    just saying

They cling to all of that to give themselves a legitimacy they obviously feel needs some help.

I thought this must be from a current witness, then noticed they said their founder was Charles Taze Russell. A genuine current JW would not say that

One or two little discrepancies in some of the org's explanations!

Means of salvation - (John 17:3) "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."

(New light in the "silver sword" - (John 17:3) "This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ."

Clergy - We do not have a paid clergy in our organization. Instead, as was done when the Christian congregation got its start, qualified overseers are appointed "to shepherd the congregation of God."

(Weasel words to conceal that J.W.'s have a pyramidal clergy-class who demand acceptance of their doctrines)

Definition - Follower of Christ. (Nope - followers of a "governing body in the U.S.A.)

    Human Nature - 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

(Nope - Paul was describing the characteristics which would be evident amongst professed Christians in the last days - not mankind in general!)

Confessing sins - ...For serious sins: James 5:16 "openly confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may get healed."

(Haven't we all seen and heard J.W.'s regularly obey this command and reveal their dirty deeds to one other? :) The original Greek can be translated as "admit your faults or misdeeds to one another" - nothing to do with serious sins, which Matthew 18:15-17 implicitly shows are private!)

Legislation - Acts 15:1-35 shows how the first-century governing body discussed and resolved a dispute with the help of the Scriptures and holy spirit.

(Nope - Galatians 2:1,2 shows that Paul was given a revelation in order to go up to Jerusalem to educate the so-called "1st century governing body" regarding circumcision. They all eventually agreed with him! Verse 6 nails it.

    Meh.

They probably wouldn't know what to do with it, anyway. :smirk:

I couldn't help but to add these two comments:

Jehovah's Witnesses do have a paid clergy. Though the Elders are not paid, the only source of revenu for the Circuit Overseers and everyone living in bethels are from donations. Hence, they have a paid clergy.

Kerry Murphy By that logic, could you please update the Mormon's side to state that their religion started in the first century along with Jesus' death as he was the original Mormon?
