I just started reading this book. Wife and I were at the local library a few weeks ago and she pulled it out of a shelf, almost by chance it was this book about Mormons. She did not read it much but said that it looks like a good read. I read the summary and it picked my interest. Talked about a son going back to the religion he once left in order to attempt to rescue her mother from the dead penalty.

When we got back home she was researching the book so I went ahead and bought it online. I am reading it and I could almost replace every character with a JW instead of a Mormon and, if it wasn't for the polygamy part, the book would continue to make sense.

Another piece that could help her wake up. Steven Hassan has said that the best way to wake up a loved one is to compare cults. This could do the trick.

    Wish me luck

Polygamy is outdated, new light is "overlapping marriages"... If you don't believe me ask my father... (Hate him, in a deep, calm way, I think that is the worst way of hating someone...)

I haven't read this book, however I did read a novel about 'sister wives' years ago-don't remember the title. It was written by an ex-Mormon. It got me interested in the whole polygamy thing. Having visited an area of the Utah near Hildale and Colorado City, AZ, where this is rampant made it more real. I hope you enjoy your read.

I heard this before somewhere, it must have been Steven Hassan. Striking parallels in the cults.

Rolling Stone have done a brilliant piece of journalism on one offshoot from Mormonism (I think it's the one PaintedToeNail mentions). Horrifying.

I have read several books about polygamy and yes, those cults do remind you of what goes on in the bOrg (the mind control part). I really hope it helps!
