Fred Hall is one of those necessary evils that occurs in any discussion forum with any depth. Whatever his true status within or outside the Org, he performs as important service. In opposition to his stated purpose, he galvanises the "apostates" on this board and hardens their resolve to "fight the good fight" against the WTS. So who is Fred? Unlike some, I don't think Fred is actually Steve Klemetti; the latter just doesn't have the raw, inflammatory style which Fred has, he is a little too sophisticated. I've begun to think , like others that Fred is not a dub in good standing, but an ex-Dub. It also occurred to me that perhaps Fred is nothing like what he pretends to be: an apologist for the WTS Empire. Someone who is so effective in strengthening the anti-'Tower feeling that Fred generates must have an alterior motive and an alter ego. I think Fred is actually an ex-Dub on a mission; a mission to make the 'Tower look as foolish as possible and to remind the apostates of what it was that made them leave the WBTS. My take: Fred is actually Ray Franz; reminding the "apostates" of the difference beteen true Christianity (the self-sacrificing, helping the poor kind) and the Watchtower kind (self-serving, willing to sacrifice the defenceless-to-maintain-the-facade-of-purity). Well done, Fred (or Ray!) you're doing a great service to those trapped in the 'Tower! Keep reminding them of the hypocrisy of that which we know as the WBTS!

Actually, reading Fred's response to SilentLambs, he couldn't possibly be Ray Franz (I only said that tongue-in-cheek of course) because Ray wouldn't be so unkind to the victims of WBTS closing-of-the-ranks-to-protect-the-Society's-image. This paedophilia issue is beyond Fred; he has no children of his own, so he can't identify with the protective instincts of parents who realise how vulnerable their children can be in the big bag world (and the KH is no haven!) This issue really burns him up because it forcefully highlights the true evil nature of the Society; in no other area is the 'Tower's favouring of the strong over the weak so evident than in silencing children who are used by depraved adults. I actually don't blame Fred too much for being heartless, uncaring and a willing participant in the coverup; he isn't a parent and can't understand the horror that the whole paedophilia issue is to parents who trusted the Society to protect their little ones. The Society itself has always taught parents not to love their children too much: no presents or chocolate eggs, no non-Tower social or sports activities, no tertiary education, denial of medical treatment which could save a child's life, making kids sit through boring adult-oriented meetings in a KH; that Fred thinks the way he does just shows how effectively he too has been victimised by the 'Tower. And like many victims, he feels a misplaced loyalty and a need to defend the org which has done this to him and robbed him iof his humanity.
I also apologise to Ray Franz for making the comparison!
BTW, does anyone know what Ray's take is on this whole SilentLambs issue?
