What is God Really Like? (the Borg view)

    G’day all,

How do you think of God?

According to the recently released publication “Benefit….Education” God is ………a person.

On page 9 of the book are found the words

“Jehovah is a majestic and awe-inspiring person”.

In the Dub’s world, God is reduced to the tangible, and his home, i.e. heaven, is a place. Not too many years ago, that is within living memory of some, the publications asserted that God inhabited the planet of Pleiedes. Presumably it would have been possible to reach there in a space probe.

So, God is a tangible “person”. Hmmmm

How do you think of God?

Strangely though, four pages later the Borg presents another view of God.

According to the recently released publication “Benefit….Education” God is ………an organisation.

On page 13 of the book are found these words:

Jehovah is preparing us for an even greater deliverance. Surely, the instruction he provides merits our earnest attention. Such instruction is given at the congregation meetings……………………………….Do you retain highlights of the instruction given at the meetings?”

In the Dub’s world, God both speaks through an organization and IS the organisation. So, in the quote above, Jehovah is instructing where? At the meetings. Who do we hear at the meetings? The organisation’s representatives. So God is synonymous with the organization, in the Dub’s view of course.

So, God is the organisation. Hmmmm

It seems the Borg has unusual views of God, one who is material in nature. What do you think?

    Cheers, Ozzie

mmmmmmmmmmmm, thought-provoking question ozzie. thank goodness for those wts publications, we wouldn't have anything to contemplate otherwise. LOL.

well ozzie, for me god has always been difficult to describe. as a catholic and then as a witness, god never altered in my impression of him. he has just always been real to me, a creator, a strength, a hope, a mystery to some extent, loving, kind and yet stern..............all in all, he's always been in my mind and i've always lived my life believing he cares and has a purpose. i've always wanted him in my life somehow, guess that's why i let the borg run my life for a while. now i'm out of the borg but god has not changed in my mind (how i think of him), and in my heart (how i feel about him). i don't find him easy to imagine, in a visual sense, but i have no trouble believing in him . a bit like a pregnant woman, she can't see the baby yet knows it's there and loves it.

so that's it ozzie. careful with those wts publications though..............wouldn't want you going over to the dark side again..............LOL

love to mrs ozzie too. loving the books and tapes. oh, and the shiraz just keeps getting better.

    cheers,

    bliss.

I think it's true that the God of the bible is all things to everyone.

He has no problem killing men women and children when it suits his purpose. Doesn't have a problem with slavery. Doesn't have a problem with women being submissive. He can be loving and also get into a fit of rage. Only choose one nation as his own, the rest - sod 'em. To be quite honest the God of the bible scares me. I mean I would feel uncomfortable bumping into him alone at any time.

I think God might exist, by the way, but not the way he's portrayed in the bible or maybe that's just wishful thinking.
