Hi All
A dub that I know says that there has been "new light" regarding the morning after pill. Does anyone know anything about this?
Are they allowing the destruction of a foetus / embryo now?

The morning after pill is just a mega dose of regular birth control, my understanding is that if taken in time it stops conception from occuring it doesnt destroy the zygote.
you might be thinking of the abortion pill ru486 which i dont think has been approved yet by the FDA.
Um, but the morning after pill can be taken up to 2 days after unprotected sex, I heard. Would the egg not be fertilised already?

A couple of female friends of mine have taken the "Morning After" pill.
Not sure what the WTBTS policy is (not that I care) but it'd be interesting, but something tells me, uh-uh...they'd be heavy handed in that one.
There is a QFR from about 8 or 9 years ago, that talks about the "mini pill". I actually learned a thing or two from that WT, lol (if nothing else, it spurred me to do further research)
It gets one thinking, because as the WT brought out, the mini-pill sometimes does its work post conception. Sometimes, it's action is just like that of the "morning after" pill cocktail, which basically prevents the egg/sperm pairing from implanting.
An interesting aside to this birth control conversation, is that normally, something like 50 to 75% of all egg/sperm pairings don't implant anyway, and are, for lack of a better term, spontaneously aborted.
And that's what makes it so interesting to me; I realised I wasn't bothered in the least (and the WT did specifically leave it up to each christians concience) by the idea of an egg/sperm getting together but not producing a child. Especially givin the fact it happens in nature more often than not.
I think, givin facts and time to think about those facts, most humans would also not be bothered by action that basically stops a potential pregnancy from occuring, even though the egg and sperm got together. I say most, I know some will always see the introduction of sperm to egg as the holy grail of human existance. I believe those people are, in a word, stupid. But think of how little excuse there is for unwanted, uncared for children in this world, givin those facts!
It would not surprise me at all if the WT has revisited the issue using the "morning after pill" as the subject. If they have, I'd bet money that they said NO to the morning after pill. I'd bet even more money that they ignored totally their reasoning and words in the earlier QFR.
I'll have to dig through some of my mothers magazine stacks, and see if I can find something recent.
Thanks Six,
Great information. IMO, there is no problem with morning after pill for the reasons you stated.
The person who asked me this is still active JW and is worried about this issue for various reasons....ahem. I said I'd try and find out the current "light" so that she doesn't have to worry about the elders finding out about that.
Thanks again,
Sirona
That might be a good idea.... I think there is a real time factor built into most peoples thinking on this.
I think if you could show her that QFR, she would be able to see the connection to the morning after pill. If not, smack her, it's there and it's clear.
I think one nice thing about this option is that it essentially acts like any other birth control. You use it whether it is needed or not, and just like a condom, you never know who the product of your night of filthy lust might have produced. Sorry, I had a flashback, lol.
