Yes indeed, shunning began in Eden. When Adam and Eve sinned against God, God pronounced a curse on them, handed them some skins for clothes and kicked them out of the house. There isn't any conversation between God and them after this.
He did converse with Cain, but that also ended shortly after he killed his brother.
On the other hand the one that started it all, Satan, visited Jehovah at his house. Job 1:6 says that when the sons of the true god entered to take their station before Jehovah, and even Satan proceeded to enter right among them. So God let him come in the house. God was even the first to speak to him! This goes against 2 john 10,11 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into your homes or say a greeting to him. 11 For he that says a greeting to him is a sharer in his wicked works. (haha since he is against God, so is he against Christ)
Ooo what is the result of God speaking to an apostate? Satan gets under his skin and God starts to brag about Job. Too bad for Job, because of God's pride, his children die and he gets a terrible disease. Is this the end of it? No. Later his own Son is used to confirm God's pride in himself that he's worthy of all worship by having Jesus die too.
Of course, Jesus also erred because he talked with Satan too. But that's ok, God will eventually get rid of Satan, but in the mean time, he's making the rest of his servants suffer by throwing him down to the earth. To show that his servants reaaaaallllly love him. Take that, Satan the Apostate!
Ahh reading the comments under a video about shunning just got me going. You get the trolls, the slightly crazy devout JW's, the really crazy ones and the sincere confused jw's. So it got me thinking about it all.
