Just read a posting FROM ( Anne) Newbie to the board,

She was dammed right in her positive thinking concerning why j.w and the way they operate,

We have all been led to beleive that we were doing jehovahs will,

yet when we stop and think loggicaly WE WERE REALLY CONTROLLED BY SOMEONE ELSES CONCIENCE

    IT WAS NOT JEHOVAHS CONCIENCE

    IT WAS NOT JESUS CONCIENCE

IT WASNOT THE FAITHFULL AND DISCREET SLAVE

IT WAS THE GOVERNING BODYS CONCIENCE. WHOM CONTROL THE WHOLE CORPORATION OF J.W

WHOM ARE A BUNCH OF CON ARTISTS SELLING MAGAZINES

    WHAT DO YOU THINK?????////////

    Hello Nightwarrior,

It is similar to the constant reminder, "Do not lean upon your own understanding". This is said to ensure you will 'lean on their understanding' instead of your own. Don't do what you think is right, do what I think is right. Don't listen to your conscience, listen to mine.

In fact I believe the "not lean upon your own understanding" is the key tool used to get us to ignore our own conscience. My reading of Romans 14 tells me it is a sin to ignore my conscience. But we were all absolved of that sin by the overriding thought that God was leading the organization and it was a greater sin to 'lean on your own understanding'. If there was a problem just ignore your conscience because it is not adjust right.

This twisted reasoning and the power it had over us smells like a cult to me.

    Governing Body Conscience?

Con = to win the confidence of

    Science = a precise method

Con Science = the Governing Body's precise method of winning people's confidence (so that they can use and abuse them)

    Fully agree Nightwarrior.

All the little phrases like "bible trained conscience" really just mean WTBTS control and the taking away of your freedom of thought.

Many end up unable to decide for themselves or sort out any problems, henct the continual updates at the elders schools basically on how to apply what is contained in the "sacred" flock book. Common sense and an individual consciene are foreign concepts to a loyal JW.

It takes great strength to escape from this high control.

Was anyone else scared sh*tless at the verse "there is a way that seems right to a man, but the end thereof is destruction"?? I hated that verse...it told me I could never be really sure I had the right religion, because personal certainty is no guarantee. I mean, obviously I thought I had the right religion (a couple of times!), but it turned out to be wrong.

Finally, I ended up deciding that the God described in the Bible was petty and vindictive...I mean, Moses got a friggin' burning bush...and I'm left to flounder about on my own with a collection of short stories that are open to the interpretation of every mental hospital reject out there??? Please...and, to add insult to injury, ol' Mos wasn't even looking for the 'right religion'...he got drafted...yet he gets eternal life and I'm left to swing in the wind?

    No thanks

Jwism in a nutshell - listen out for who He might be, then nail Him down before lifting Him up - then if I can't see proof of God..........and so on.

The way that it is not something which can be earned is such a beautiful thing I remain overawed.
