I was told in my last fight with the JW's that if it was not for the act of disfellowshipping I would not have a problem with them. I don't think that's true. Is that true for you?
Is it all about the disfellowshipping?

DFing is all part of the reason I left.
Shunning is wrong and a mark of a Cult.
Qwerty .............. of the undisfellowshipped class.

Hey Jayson, no kidding, disfellowshipping/disassociation is a very painful and threatening aspect of JW life.
But it's everything leading up to that outcome: that's what it's all about.
Disfellowshipping, that's the grand finale!
No matter what: the reproof, scriptural disagreement, or doctrinal interpretations to name just a few, will culminate in your disfellowshipping if you don't agree with the WTBTS stance on these matters (to name only very few).
But in some respects, it is everything, because if your family/friendships are JW-based, then disfellowshipping is almost like the death-nell. So in some respects, you could be very well right, if you look at it from that perspective.
Either way, being on the outside of it, freedom becomes more apparent.

Like Brumm said.
The more I learn (from the outside looking in) about this religion in which I was raised, and to which I was completely devoted for 20 years (and not so completely for another 20), the more I realize that it's rotten thru-and-thru, and that the rotting started 80 years ago.
I was just too used to the stench.

Hi Jayson, It was the shunning and the snubbing that angered me and made me do my research. I owe them thanks for that.

Well I was df'd and shunned, that is what peeked my interest in the "apostate" views that and the dateline show. If it wasn't for the df'ing I might have never looked.

Outside the act of disfellowshipping, I don't want to teach my children the untruths that the WTS teaches. I just cannot think of any good that comes from being a witness that you cannot get elsewhere.

I don't have a problem with disfellowshipping. But I do have a major problem with the shunning aspect of it. That creates a climate of fear and abuses of power.
But onacruse is right, this organization is corrupt and no good from the top down.
