Why Bother?

We who actually look at WT history know that they just changed 1874 to 1914 without a fanfare. Setting up the potential for changing any dates to new dates because "holy spirit" told them to do so.

Which makes me ask, why do we bother to watch what they do? I mean, we don't care having escaped their greedy little claws. We're free and POMO!

Okay I appreciate that perhaps, just perhaps, we might wake up a few more PIMO people but for the majority, they won't listen to apostates, and even won't listen to family, or they just try to get us to rejoin and drink the snake oil again.

So, I say it again, why are we bothering? 🤷

I don't do it to awaken others, though it would be nice if that happens. It's just a way to deal with it along with others who also got out. Turns out I wasn't crazy, after all.

Its best when you stop caring about the doctrine, the organization, the burden. I come here just to interact. I also go to other forums (some regligious and some political). Sometimes I go weeks without going to any forum. I only interact if the topic interests me and I'm in the mood.

There's no reason to bother. The JW organization today is not at all what most xJWs remember.

Thirty years ago though, doctrinal debates were huge on the internet and JWs were consistently trounced on public forums

I was watching one debate between a J.W. and a guy I take to be an ex-JW on "Quora", the J.W was trounced, and then went to the inevitable J.W. resort of the Ad Hominem attack, "So-and-so only Posts sophisticated things against J.W's, and never Bible Truth".

They never reply to the Post itself that trounces them, for obvious reasons, but use the Org's technique of "Shooting the Messenger". Really pathetic !

I bother to look on here frequently because I like to see what the current crafty moves of the org. are, not that they affect me much usually, as I Posted on another thread, the org's latest nasty move, about avoiding anyone that obviously disagrees with their erroneous and unscriptural teachings, may just affect me, as I meet up regularly with two J.W's who I have known all my life. I shall be interested to see.

Personally, I believe that the WTBTS/JW business empire is evil & anti-Christ and deserves to be witnessed against - at any/every opportunity!

Give potential victims ["interested persons"] the chance to make an informed choice, by sharing what you know about the dark side of the cult. Then let them decide what they want. At least you'll have tried.

Why bother...? It is difficult to disconnect totally from a significant, perhaps ongoing, part of your life. I appreciate having a forum to form and express thoughts and questions that have long been in the back of my mind, but not yet put into words. I appreciate the variety of responses and exchanges as well.

I doubt the dub of today can even give an explanation of their beliefs. It's more about membership in the tribe or club. Let's call them "PIMU" Physically In, Mentally unaware. They wander along blissfully in their self-righteous state.

I like to keep up to date with the org's latest shenanigans.

My main reason to come here is the hope of one day seeing a post about some earth shattering JW news.

My greatest dream is to see the collapse of the cult and then see the looks on PIMI relatives and friends faces. Knowing them they will then proceed to blame me for not informing them about the religion. LOL
