    Dear All,

It has been a while since my last update and I first of all wanted to reassure you that our inquiry into the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society and Manchester New Moston Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses (MNMCJW) are still progressing. As you can imagine we have gathered a large amount of evidence and we are now focused on analysing this information to ensure that we use it in the most effective way.

This is not to say that we will not accept any new evidence from anyone that wishes to provide it and I would once again like to thank all of you who have helped us in the past for the invaluable information you have provided.

Secondly I wish to draw your attention to a press statement we will be making later today. This will report that MNMCJW’s appeal against the First Tier Tribunal’s ruling that the Charity Commission’s decision to open an inquiry in April 2015 was reasonable has been dismissed by the Upper Tribunal.

This confirms that the Charity Commission acted lawfully when opening the inquiry and we hope this will conclude the litigation. We have continued to progress the inquiry during the litigation and hope to be in a position to publish our report shortly.

    Kind Regards,

    Alex Uden

Apart from publishing a report will the CC have power to force any changes?

Well. we can only hope. I am afraid the word "shortly" was qualified by the term "we hope". The CC have stood their ground in court and won, so we can hope that they press home the advantage. The CC though do have powers to force certain changes.

I imagine that WT would be as litigious as ever at every turn. They seem willing to spend every last penny on lawyers, certainly more than they spend on any real charity.
