  but I now firmly believe the Internet will conquer the Watchtower. I say this because before the Internet such educational truth had to be searched for in books and the authority of the author was often held with suspicion.

  So I think the important questions should now be:-

  A) What websites help.

  B) What websites are counter productive.

  C) How seriously do we appreciate the privalige this site gives us personally" to defeat the Watchtoer and help lurkers?

  
  I have many opinions on this, but I must say I appreciate the platform this site has given me to help educate those doubting the watchtower. I also firmly believe if I was a doubting witness the last two weeks on this site have shown me what an attractive and friendly place of education apostate sites can be.

  The internet is an awesome, powerful tool for those that wish to use it. It is exceedingly effecient at helping people that are doubting and want to find answers. The difficulty is this... watchtower, scientology, mormons and the like have been so effective at scaring their horses from even going close to the water. Not even mentioning drinking it, this makes it very difficult to lead the horses there.

  In my anecdotal experience, I have regular discussions with family members about the injustices, errors and outright lies that watchtower perpetuates but they outright refuse to search things out on the internet or read apostate materials.

  As far as point "c" goes..... This website and all the work Simon has done is an allah-send!! Praise be to Wotan!!

  The Rebel (A) I believe If the Internet does not destroy parents faith in the Watchtower, it will destroy their children's faith ( I only hope It's not an overlapping generation of children :-) )

  Yes, the WT conditioned most of the older (overlapping) generation to be skeptical of the internet -- Satan's tool. But the younger set have been raised with laptops at school and the "Google is our friend" attitude. Unlimited information is available at the click of a mouse. They know which are considered "trusted" sites, too.

  I absolutely cannot imagine a person under 25 (maybe even 30?) who hasn't typed "JW" into Google. How they react may depend on whether they stumble upon a reasonable, sane group of WT critics vs. a bunch of "mentally diseased apostates". Thus I think it's best not to pounce on Newbies who show up here (or elsewhere) and thus end up fulfilling everything they have been warned about "apostates".

  Rebel, doc... i agree totally with that! I see it in my kids with their very own school issued chromebooks! When you google jehovahs witnesses the very first page has "unfavorable" websites.

  I think the scattergun approach that is provided on Simon's awesome website works for the greater good, whether its "sane" opponents or "mentally diseased" opponents. It takes all kinds of ways to wake people up so I am not opposed to so called "over the top" antics of ex dubs as long as its legal. I reason that if a dub is on this or jwfacts, it is only a matter of time even if the first experience is not pleasant.

  The internet has certainly been a game changer, and it played a pivotal part I'm my awakening. If it wasn't for the internet I would probably still be sitting inside the windowless walls of watchtower. Oblivious to the outside world.

  My personal observation is that discovering T.T.A.T,T can result in a luck of self-confidence and self esteem.These feelings of insecurity in a belief can result in a poster coming across as arrogant, when inwardly they are very insecure and not emotionally ready to fully accept or challenge their belief in God and the bible.

  I therefore firmly believe praising the effort people are making in accepting facts, is more healthy than concentrating on a few comments they may have made which can't be substantiated. I say this because I believe balancing realism with confidence takes time, particularly when a person is inwardly insecure, and is coping with also discovering T.T.A.T.T.

  The Internet levels the playing field between those who are leaders at the top in cult organizations apparently “privileged” with their inner-circle secret knowledge and the rank-and-file from whom the guys at the top have tried their darnedest to keep such information secret. Yes, with the pervasive power of the Internet, the secretive and protected nature of such “hidden” knowledge has disappeared.

  So, the folks in the WT organization, from the lowly elders on up, can shred their internal documents and correspondence till their heart’s content, and it won’t really matter – because inevitably some of them will wise up and make such shredder food available for the whole world to see before it can ever be destroyed.

  All of these dark cultic organizations are liable and apt to be exposed for what they are – and all the quicker now with the great Google God. All such dishonest and oppressive cultic regimes have absolutely nowhere to hide, and they’re destined to their eventual and inescapable end – and Godspeed!
