From what I have noticed, is that both subjects, may well start out as logical debate but soon logic goes out the window and the 'debate' evolves into full blown argument.

I realise they are both serious subjects, but really, some people need to lighten up a little with their outlook on life. Life's too short (unless you're a JW)

Hmmm, I'd have to vote politics.

But only cuz I don't have a set opinion on the matter, and so I tend to get squashed when I enter a political debate.

Now, when I can argue religion, that is fun!

Since I post to both kinds of groups, I'd say they were pretty much as annoying as each other. The trolls are as nasty as each other. The worst, most vicious group I ever frequented was actually a group for posting recipes...

So...Viv what do ya think about our upcoming cabinet?

    LOL

Religion or Politics? Both can get out of hand, but I can really enjoy debates on religion....Wack Wack Wack heheheh. I seem to respect people's political views (exept extreem right/left) more then their religious ones...

I love Religion and Politics, they are subjects that are close to my heart.

Neither serve as any kind of annoyance to me, but I am sure many would disagree.

Here' my problem with both - especially religious discussion and debate: in my observations, religious debate has little use in everyday living. What I mean is, when you go out to dinner with friends, or have a get-together, do you find discussion of religion to be a good thing? I don't - and when people are in such situations, from my experiences, religion is hardly ever mentioned.

I just don't think religious discussion has a real place in public life. It seems like somtheing you just do at home, or in a church or kingdom hall, or at a web-board.

Even among jws, how many of them discuss religion outside of a religious setting? I've known very few who do. Most would seemingly rather not (no wonder, they hear so much of it at meetings).

Political and religious debate IMHO is a very good thing as it exposes individuals to a plethora of issues and forces them to both defend and confront their particular beliefs and prejudices; such encounters are paramount to the learning process. The unfortunate downside of this is that such debates also expose the darker side of human nature. However I still believe the overall effect is indeed positive even if a few feathers get ruffled along the way. Keep debating!

    Just my 2 cents.

Hands down RELIGIOUS debates are more irritating! Arguing about a book written thousands of years ago and people's beliefs!! Ack no. It's more fun and interesting to discuss politics because it affects us all. It's also interactive by being able to vote.

Ignorant people! Religious and political debates with reasonable people is enjoyable. Reasonable people give and take because they respect opinions.
