JW's really are NOT really neutral in politics - Proof

  “Jehovah’s Witnesses do not involve themselves in political issues or governmental affairs. They have no interest in attempting to influence governmental authorities. (John 15: 18; 17:14, 16) As a result of their spiritual values, Jehovah’s Witnesses do not involve themselves in lobbying, civil disobedience, or movements to seize power or bring about changes in governments or laws.”

  “Jehovah’s Witnesses remain politically neutral for religious reasons, based on what the Bible teaches. We do not lobby, vote for political parties or candidates, run for government office, or participate in any action to change governments.”

  Notice that they say JW’s “have no interest in attempting to influence governmental authorities”.

  Wasn’t the Governing Body endorsing a letter writing campaign “an attempt to influence governmental authorities”?

  That was the very purpose for writing the letters; to attempt to influence the government of Russia not go through with the ban on JW’s.

  They also said JW’s “do not involve themselves in...bringing about changes in governments”, and “We do not participate in any action to change governments”.

  Wasn’t the letter writing campaign an action to try to change the government? That’s getting involved in “governmental affairs”.

  So, according to their own literature, Jehovah’s Witnesses violate neutrality.

  Isn't there a difference between "changing a government's policy" and "changing a government"?

  They do keep close to being politically neutral, but that doesn't mean they won't try to influence decisions that have a significant effect on them and fight for their rights.

  Unless I'm mistaken, Jehovah's Witnesses define "neutrality" as complete and total abstinence from the political process in any form.

  This not only includes abstinence from mundane things like school bond elections, it means forbidding their children to run for student council or even to participate in the mock election at all.

  Given that fact, I would say that attempting to influence government policy via a letter writing campaign is hypocritical. Petitioning is simply another way for people to make their collective voice known and is certainly political in nature..

  I agree TJ. The WTBTS is heavily involved trying to influence many Governments to see things their way by working to change laws, as in not saluting The flag, working to get zoning regulations changed when it benefits their interests. Not fessing up to their sins of omission in child sex cases by trying to hush things up with out of court settlements.

  Fighting to establish their corporation as a religion in Bulgaria for the tax benefits. By lying to the government that they don't shun a witness who decides to get a blood transfusion.

  All of their crapola goes back to the time Rutherford and other JW's were sent to prison for sedition. during WW1

  And of course Rutherford's back ally approach to Hitler.

  Of course local JW's are not allowed to vote in their elections, run for the School board, and any political office.

  Hell you can be DF if you join the YMCA or YWCA.

  So what did the WTBTS do they joined the United Nations. Why?

  So they could gain access and a voice in meetings held in Europe to open up territories for emerging countries.

  Here is what they agreed to:

  "Recently the NGO Section has been receiving numerous inquiries regarding the association of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York with the Department of Public Information (DPI). This organization applied for association with DPI in 1991 and was granted association in 1992.

  By accepting association with DPI, the organization agreed to meet criteria for association, including support and respect of the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and commitment and means to conduct effective information programmes with its constituents and to a broader audience about UN activities."

  For those who don't know, the JW org is still actively involved with the OSCE.

  They can try to reason away the UN thing as a library card mistake made by a single bro.

  But their OSCE actions involve Marcel Gillet, one of JW top dogs in Europe.

  Somehow many exjw don't know about JW and OSCE, but to me it's a very much more damning and hypocritical involvement with 'worldly governments'. At least it's not often discussed, while this OSCE stuff is very recent (they participated in meetings in 2017).

  Oh I forgot to mention that in these meetings also other evangelical churches, the Vatican, Scientology and Muslim sects participate.

  Double the fun, double the hypocrisy.

  They are ambassadors for God‘s kingdom, so they are actually involved in actively trying to overthrow every single government on earth.

  Thx Anders for this info.

  OSCE = Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

  It's not the scandal of the org joining the UN, but it's close, given the OSCE's political activities and goals. Perhaps the GB view it like filing a Friend of the Court brief in legal matters?
