    Is it good?

We're off to the opera tonight, and apart from Madame Butterfly, I'm unfamiliar with Puccini's stuff being more of a Verdi man and all.

    Englishman: Great Opera, Great Music.

If you ever saw the movie, Moonstruck, that was the opera featured in that movie.

    Thanks, El Kabong:

Like most opera's, it strikes to the heart as far as emotion is concerned. La Boheme bounced between comedy and tragedy and also had some wonderful arias that positively lifted the soul. Some of the acting was a touch risque as Musette revealed a shapely ankle to the mortification of her patron.

Mimi dies in the end. Of course.

I never realised that Guiseppe Verdi's name, translates into English as Joe Green.

I mean.. who wants a name like GREEN?

    maybe he was jewish?

the name didn'T hurt his music though! he is the best opera componist in my opinoon....one aria after the other with almost no recitatives inbetween.

Ahh, an Agatha Christie fan as well. Or more specifically, Hercule Poirot.

Those who teach Latin to small boys are not paid very well. Ah yes the little grey cells . . . .
